Representative Sawin Millet tours RCH, shows support for Long Term Care

(L to R) Representative Sawin Millett and Rodney Brents, Facility Administrator at Rumford Community Home

RUMFORD- Representative Sawin Millett accepted an invitation to tour Rumford Community Home (RCH) and discuss the proposed 10% cuts in Governor Baldacci’s budget.

Rodney Brents, RCH Administrator led the tour showing Millett the different levels of care the center has to offer as well as the rehabilitation gym used with their short term rehab patients. Brents discussed all the money saving changes and upgrades the facility has made from insulating heating pipes to new energy efficient lighting.

Representative Millett asked many questions and showed genuine concerns over MaineCare funding for long term care. “Nursing homes across Maine have experienced cuts from MaineCare over the last several years” stated Millett. “I am concerned that any more cuts may result in job losses and nursing homes closing, which is a very bad thing for the River Valley area and for Maine” he continued.

“I am pleased that Representative Millett made time to tour our facility” said Brents. “He now has a better understanding of how nursing centers operate and what changes we have already made to save money and be more energy efficient” he concluded.
